Question 1

What is RideNoww?

Accepted Answer

RideNoww is an online taxi and cab comparison platform based in London. Instead of calling several taxi firms or checking multiple websites, you enter your journey details once and instantly compare quotes from licensed cab operators covering more than 500 towns and cities across the UK. You can then choose the option that best suits your budget, vehicle needs and travel time, and book it in just a few clicks.

Question 2

How does RideNoww work?

Accepted Answer

It's simple. First, enter your pickup point, destination, date and time. Next, tell us how many passengers and how much luggage you have. RideNoww then shows you quotes from available local operators, along with the vehicle type and price for each. Compare the options, choose the one you like and confirm your booking. Your chosen operator then takes care of the journey.

Question 3

Is RideNoww a taxi company?

Accepted Answer

No. RideNoww doesn't own or run its own fleet of cars. We are a comparison and booking platform that connects passengers with local, licensed taxi and private hire operators. This means you get access to many operators in one place, with more choice and more competitive prices than booking with just one company.

Question 4

Which areas does RideNoww cover?

Accepted Answer

We're based in London and cover journeys across all London boroughs, as well as more than 500 towns and cities throughout the UK. Whether you need a short local trip, a ride to a train station, an airport transfer or a long-distance journey between cities, you can compare prices for it on RideNoww. Browse our popular destinations to see some of the routes we cover.

Question 5

Is it free to use RideNoww?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Searching and comparing cab prices on RideNoww is completely free, and there's no obligation to book. You only pay for the journey you choose to book.

Question 6

Why should I compare taxi prices instead of booking directly?

Accepted Answer

Taxi fares for the same journey can vary a lot from one operator to another, especially for airport transfers and long-distance trips. Comparing quotes lets you see the full range of prices and vehicle options in one place, so you can find the best value in minutes. It also saves you the time and hassle of contacting several taxi firms yourself.

Question 7

How do I book a taxi on RideNoww?

Accepted Answer

Enter your journey details in the quote form on our homepage, including your pickup address, drop-off address, date and time. Review the quotes from available operators, choose the one that suits you best and complete your booking by adding passenger details and any special requests. Once your booking is placed, you'll receive a confirmation with your journey details.

Question 8

What information do I need to give when booking?

Accepted Answer

To get accurate quotes and a smooth journey, please provide your full pickup and drop-off addresses or postcodes, travel date and time, number of passengers, number and size of luggage items, and the lead passenger's name and mobile number. For airport pickups, include your flight number. You can also add notes for the driver, such as child seat requests, accessibility needs or specific pickup instructions.

Question 9

How far in advance can I book a cab?

Accepted Answer

You can book a cab hours, days or even weeks ahead of your journey. We recommend booking as early as possible for airport transfers, early morning or late night pickups, and busy periods such as weekends, bank holidays and school holidays. This gives you the widest choice of operators and vehicles.

Question 10

Can I book a cab for the same day or right now?

Accepted Answer

Yes, subject to availability in your area. Simply enter your journey with today's date and your preferred pickup time, and we'll show you the operators who can take the booking. For last-minute journeys, availability can be more limited during peak times, so booking even a few hours ahead can help.

Question 11

Can I book a cab for someone else?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can book a cab for a family member, friend, colleague or client. Just enter the passenger's name and mobile number in the booking details so the driver can contact them directly on the day of travel.

Question 12

Can I add extra stops to my journey?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you need to pick someone up or make a stop along the way, add the extra stop when you request your quote so it's included in the price. Adding unplanned stops during the journey may result in an additional charge from the operator.

Question 13

Can I book a return journey?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can book a return trip, for example to the airport and back, by adding your return date and time when making your booking, or by booking the return as a separate journey. Booking both legs in advance means you won't have to worry about finding a cab when you get back.

Question 14

How will I know my booking is confirmed?

Accepted Answer

Once your booking is complete, you'll receive a booking confirmation with your journey details and booking reference. [CONFIRM: e.g. by email and/or SMS.] Please check all details carefully and contact us straight away if anything needs correcting.

Question 15

Will I get my driver's details before pickup?

Accepted Answer

[CONFIRM: e.g. Yes. Driver and vehicle details, such as the driver's name, car model and registration number, are normally shared before your pickup time so you know exactly who to look for.]

Question 16

How are cab fares calculated?

Accepted Answer

Each operator sets its own price based on factors such as journey distance, estimated travel time, vehicle type, time of day and date of travel. Because operators price differently, RideNoww shows you several quotes side by side so you can choose the best value for your trip.

Question 17

Are RideNoww prices fixed or metered?

Accepted Answer

[CONFIRM: e.g. The quotes you see on RideNoww are fixed prices agreed before you travel, not metered fares. The price you book is the price you pay for the journey as booked, so traffic delays won't increase your fare.]

Question 18

Are there any hidden fees?

Accepted Answer

No. We aim to show you a clear price upfront. Additional charges only apply if your journey changes from what was booked, for example extra stops, extra waiting time, additional luggage or a change of destination. Any such charges are set by the operator.

Question 19

What extra charges might apply to my journey?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the operator and your journey, extra charges may apply for waiting time beyond the free waiting period, extra stops not included in your booking, additional or oversized luggage, or changes to your route. Road and parking charges such as the London Congestion Charge, tolls and airport parking or drop-off fees may be included in your quote or added separately, so please check your quote details before booking.

Question 20

Are airport parking and drop-off fees included?

Accepted Answer

This depends on the operator. Many UK airports charge vehicles for drop-off and short-stay parking, and some operators include these costs in their quotes while others add them separately. [CONFIRM: how RideNoww quotes show this.]

Question 21

Are fares higher at night or on bank holidays?

Accepted Answer

Some operators charge higher rates for late night journeys, early morning pickups, bank holidays and peak dates such as Christmas and New Year's Eve. Because you can compare several operators on RideNoww, you can still find the best available price, even at busy times.

Question 22

Why do prices differ between operators for the same journey?

Accepted Answer

Every operator has its own pricing, running costs, vehicle types and availability. One operator may have a car close to your pickup point, while another may need to travel further. Comparing lets you take advantage of these differences and choose the price and service level that suits you.

Question 23

Which airports do you cover?

Accepted Answer

You can compare taxi prices to and from all major London airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City, as well as Southend and other airports across the UK. You can also book transfers between airports, train stations, cruise ports, hotels and home addresses.

Question 24

How early should I book my airport taxi?

Accepted Answer

We recommend booking your airport transfer at least 24 to 48 hours in advance, and earlier for travel during school holidays, bank holidays or very early morning flights. When choosing your pickup time, allow enough time for traffic and airport check-in. For most international flights, airlines advise arriving at the airport 2 to 3 hours before departure.

Question 25

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Accepted Answer

Add your flight number when you book. This allows the operator to track your flight and adjust your pickup time if you land earlier or later than expected. [CONFIRM: e.g. There's no extra charge for flight delays when your flight number is provided.] If your flight is cancelled or diverted, please contact us as soon as possible.

Question 26

Where will my driver meet me at the airport?

Accepted Answer

Pickup arrangements depend on the operator and service you book. Many operators offer a meet and greet service, where your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. Others meet you at the airport's designated pickup or short-stay car park area. Full meeting point details will be included in your booking confirmation.

Question 27

How much free waiting time do I get at the airport?

Accepted Answer

[CONFIRM: e.g. Airport pickups usually include a free waiting period of up to 45 to 60 minutes after your flight lands, giving you time to clear passport control and collect your luggage. Waiting time beyond this may be charged by the operator.]

Question 28

What should I do if I can't find my driver?

Accepted Answer

First, check your booking confirmation for the meeting point details and your driver's contact number, if provided. Make sure your phone is switched on after landing in case the driver tries to reach you. If you still can't find your driver, contact us using the details in your confirmation and we'll help connect you with the operator.

Question 29

Do you also cover train stations and cruise ports?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Along with airports, you can compare prices for transfers to and from major train stations such as King's Cross, St Pancras, Euston, Paddington and Victoria, and cruise ports such as Southampton, Dover and Tilbury, as well as hotels, venues and home addresses.

Question 30

What types of cabs can I book?

Accepted Answer

Depending on availability, you can choose from a range of vehicles, including standard saloon cars for everyday trips, estate cars for extra luggage, executive cars for business travel, MPVs for families and small groups, and larger vehicles such as minibuses for groups. See all cab types for details.

Question 31

How many passengers and suitcases can each vehicle carry?

Accepted Answer

Capacity depends on the vehicle type. As a general guide, a standard saloon suits up to 4 passengers with limited luggage, an estate car suits up to 4 passengers with more luggage, and an MPV or larger vehicle suits 5 or more passengers or lots of bags. Always check the passenger and luggage capacity shown on each quote, and see our cab types page for more detail.

Question 32

How do I choose the right vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Think about both the number of passengers and how much luggage you're carrying. A car with enough seats may not have enough boot space for several large suitcases. If you're travelling to the airport with heavy bags, pushchairs or bulky items, choosing an estate, MPV or larger vehicle helps you avoid problems on the day.

Question 33

Can I book a cab for a large group?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you're travelling with a large group, you can compare prices for MPVs, 8-seaters and minibuses, depending on availability in your area. For very large groups, you can also book more than one vehicle.

Question 34

Can I bring oversized luggage, such as golf clubs, skis or a pushchair?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but please mention any oversized or unusual items when booking, such as golf bags, ski equipment, bicycles, pushchairs or musical instruments. This ensures the operator sends a vehicle with enough space. Bringing large items that weren't included in your booking may mean they can't be carried or that an extra charge applies.

Question 35

Can I request a child seat?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add your request in the booking notes and include your child's age or weight so the right seat can be arranged. Availability varies by operator, so please book early. [CONFIRM: whether child seats carry an extra charge.]

Question 36

Do you offer wheelchair-accessible cabs?

Accepted Answer

Many of the operators we work with offer wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Please include your accessibility requirements in the booking notes, such as whether you need a ramp or can transfer to a seat, or contact us before booking and we'll help you find a suitable option.

Question 37

Can I travel with my pet?

Accepted Answer

Assistance dogs are always welcome. Whether other pets are accepted depends on the individual operator and driver, so please mention your pet in the booking notes. Small pets should usually travel in a suitable carrier.

Question 38

How can I pay for my cab?

Accepted Answer

[CONFIRM: e.g. You can pay securely online with a debit or credit card when you book. Some operators may also accept cash payment directly to the driver.]

Question 39

Is it safe to pay online with RideNoww?

Accepted Answer

Accepted Answer

[CONFIRM: e.g. Your card is charged when your booking is confirmed.]

Question 42

Can I cancel my booking?

Accepted Answer

Yes. [CONFIRM: e.g. You can cancel free of charge up to X hours before your pickup time. Cancellations made after this may be charged in full or in part.] To cancel, please contact us with your booking reference as soon as possible.

Question 43

Can I change my booking?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you need to change your pickup time, date, address, passenger numbers or vehicle type, contact us as early as possible with your booking reference. We'll pass the changes to your operator. Some changes, such as a longer route or a larger vehicle, may affect the price.

Question 44

What if my driver doesn't turn up?

Accepted Answer

If your driver hasn't arrived at the booked pickup time, first check your confirmation for the meeting point and driver contact details. If you still can't reach your driver, contact us straight away and we'll chase the operator for you. [CONFIRM: refund policy if a driver fails to arrive.]

Question 45

How do refunds work?

Accepted Answer

[CONFIRM: e.g. Eligible refunds are returned to the original payment method within X working days.]

Question 46

Are the drivers and operators licensed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. RideNoww works with licensed taxi and private hire operators. In London, private hire operators, drivers and vehicles are licensed by Transport for London (TfL). Elsewhere in the UK, they are licensed by the local council. Licensing includes background checks on drivers and regular checks on vehicles.

Question 48
